Dumbest comment I've ever seen:
"From the video it looked as if his right rear tire might have been about 1.5 psi off. Tough break, bro. Better use a digital gauge next time."
Yep, 1.5 more PSI in the right rear and all is good. Uh, no. And a digital gauge is the answer. No again.

Scott--Yeah I love his description, and his video. The guy is a class act and there was something to be learned or at least reinforced there. He should be getting big time props in his thread.

Ouch indeed! Friends don't let friends early apex.
When one puts their car on track there is always the possibility of having to walk home. Glad the driver escaped with only a broken wallet. From all the tire marks there it seems going off there is a common occurrence.-

I don't beat people up unless they really do something idiotic that jeopordizes the safety of someone else. I've made some bad mistakes and have been fortunate not to have done any damage. I've seen people make smaller mistakes than I have, and have had major damage. There is a certain amount of luck or bad luck involved in the end result.
As for how he got to where he did, its worth looking at so you can avoid doing it yourself. The early apex means you're going to run out of track, and you have to adjust your speed and steering input accordingly. An abrupt, complete lift isn't going to be the answer, and brakes will be worse, but a slight, gentle feathering back of the throttle usually will do it. That's the beauty of the MINI/FWD versus AWD and RWD--we can't get on the gas as quickly in a turn (otherwise we get big time under steer) so if we early apex, we have a split second more to figure it out and correct it.
The most important thing, and they teach this over and over from day one--two off, just go straight, let the speed come off, then gently come back on track. If you get two off, and over correct at high speed, you're going to shoot across the track at high speed just like he did, and a rollover in this situation is not uncommon. This happens at Road America in the kink all the time-people never hit the wall on the side they went off, it's always the opposite wall. It's narrow there, and because it's hard to tell yourself to keep it straight, people end up jerking the car back across the track when the reality is there is enough room to stay straight.-

But you have to like the drivers description of the accident. No where does he blame anyone but himself. THAT is extremely rare when viewing these types of videos.

I did a one track day in CR in the Swift....imagine all the crappy crazy drivers now released on a track with no restrictions! It was a one time scary experience. All you need is your helmet on and brain off! All the racers in CR avoid track days
