Now that's a bummer !! Is it repairable ??

I just can't believe the timing, though the tires being new and super sticky, I wouldn't be surprised it played a role. -

Thank goodness for road hazard. Of all the things I've seen stick in tires that one takes the cake.

I wonder if there is an ignition switch on the other end.

The key thing to ponder....
You most likely won't have a key ever puncture one of your tires again in your lifetime....
That's the keynote to consider for this situation...
I'd still check with the tire guy to see if he can fix a keyhole... -

That in all probability destroyed multiple ply wires on the inside of the carcass. Road hazard should fix it for ya.
I built tires for Goodyear for 12 years before I retired for the last time and learned a lot about tire construction in that time. A tip... if you find a screw in your tire, unscrew it. Don't just pull it out. Less chance of damage to ply wires or belt wires in the tread package. Maybe if you unlock it before removing it? -

The Discount Tire road hazard coverage is very good. My wife got a flat on a two week old tire and drove on it too long. They gave us a new tire, no charge.

By the way... question:
Does the tire monitor system goes away on it's own after a while?
I mounted one of the winter wheel for temporary use, and reset the tire monitoring system. But it still shows as low tire pressure.
EDIT: Never mind. I didn't do it properly the first time. You have to wait for the reset message to go away by itself before doing any thing else. -

ACE is the place with the helpful hardware folks....
Now find the strong box that fits that key.....
Could be early retirement.... So git that wheel re-tired...
With the road hazard... -

Wow......that's a new one!
Rear tires get more flats cause the fronts kick up the debris off of the road and the rears have to deal with it as best they can.
Still want to find out what happened to the rest of the front door....... -

It could always be worse. Once I saw a 'spark plug' in the rear tire of a motorcycle.

Road hazard! Watch... They are going to claim that the tire was 50% worn and cut you a $50check. Best of luck!
