For $22 large you could get into a pretty sweet S for a track day car and not wear your arm out giving point bys...![]()

Looking at the photo the it has a half cage and the spec of the car is not that great. To convert it to something better would cost another $8K+ Good luck to sell it for $22K.
I can't imagine driving a MC with a 33mm restrictor! The engine is restricted as stock to start with.-

I stand corrected, Pirelli World Challenge does have B-Spec on the schedule for 2014.

B-Spec is now World-Challenge TCB. I don't know what B-Spec race you watched in MO but it wasn't a World-Challenge race. We averaged 19 to 20 cars per race last year. And the racing was awesome the championship was decided at the last race with 3 drivers having a shot at it. The TV coverage has sucked though. Best place to watch is on world-challengetv.com they live stream all the races.

Yeah, overnight that car has become technology in search of an application. Sad, feel bad for the owner, and everyone else who sunk money into B-spec.
B-spec was a great idea--initially it was supposed to be an entry level race type thing at a reasonable price, but the reality became something much different--a bunch of experienced racers in low-budget cars. That never was going to succeed long term.-

And then you have the plethora of spec Miatas, New and used, and places to race them at.....

Thing is, it only has one year of racing on it, the engine is detuned for the series, I'm wagering the car was well maintained and set up, so if anything this car could have been a dream come true at the right price, if B-spec was still alive. It costs money to get a car track ready--your car may be faster in a straight line, but it wouldn't even be legal on the track in a racing situation. It's apples to oranges; you will never get back what you put into a track car, nature of the beast. The best you can hope for is not taking too much of a hit.
The problem with this car is it's going to be too slow for most HPDEs, and probably outclassed in any Autox due to the mods.-

I believe the B-spec has only been dumped by IMSA, they can still be raced in the Pirelli World Challenge.

Gee wonder if I could get a test drive? Mid Ohio seems a good venue.

Didn't I read they pulled the plug on the B spec series?

I was thinking it was a might spendy myself. I'd guess this what the owner has in that MINI. Time is on the buyer's side, the price will fall.

B-Spec series is dead.

Well that MINI has the resale value of a dead horse. Not sure anyone would even want it for a track day car. Maybe it could be converted to a rally car.
SCCA strikes again sad to say. :frown2: -

I dont even think that thing is worth half the asking. We already know it was run pretty hard if it was used as a racer. I mean damn. Thats a few K more than I paid for my MCS, and I'd take mine over that thing any day.

Yep. That's the direction I was hoping B-Spec was going to go; if it ever approached 10 percent of the Mazda Spec series success, I was 2 years away from giving it a shot. I knew it was a pipe dream, but I was still hoping....
