    The whole point of a back up camera is that it be in working condition in case your primary camera fails.

    Probably just an odd early failure of the device. It is still early with the new design, yet I'd imagine there are 100's of thousands of these back-up cameras out there in a variety of makes. There is bound to be the odd failure.
