I said he's right about cars!! And he better be! He's a mechanic/manual machinist/mechanic genius lol. And his dad is a mechanic. I have some very reliable men at my disposal.

Also, I'm still learning this website and it's difficult to navigate on a phone, so for the person that asked why we didn't get the supercharged one: my boyfriend thinks the turbocharged MINI performs better.

For the casino question: Vinton and Lake Charles. Vinton is closer, but the casinos in Lake Charles are better. I feel like the slots let me play a bit more in lake Charles.

Now, to the dealership comments: I'm aware of the extended warranty on the hpfp and the tensioner chain. I told the dealership about it. They obviously didn't listen to me. I got my car from Kinsel Toyota in Beaumont, and up until now (my car still won't start after their "fix") my experience at the dealership had been great.

And also for the quoted comment above: the dealership said they changed the spark plugs when they got the car, and that had fixed it. It obviously didn't, but that goes back to my original concern about the fix: they're just trying to hold me off until my warranty kicks in.

This whole experience has turned into a real nightmare. I'm hesitant to put any money into my car to personalize it because it seems like it's going to be in the shop all of the time!

Also, my boyfriend could fix it, and at this point is rather have him working on ot because I know he's competent, but I spent almost $4k on an extended warranty and didn't expect to get jerked around like this!

Well, I'll be taking my car back to the dealership after work today. I excited to see which crappy loaner car I'll get stuck in.

I have to take it to a mini dealership. The closest is almost 2 hours away, so that's a huge pain. I wish I could take it anywhere because my boyfriends dad actually has a shop, and works on the cars that the dealerships "certified" techs can't fix. I trust him waaayyyy more than I trust anyone else to fix my car. Like I said; I have some very reliable gentlemen to work on my car (and some very friendly gentlemen to help me on here, which I appreciate greatly!!) but I was told that if I have anyone other than a certified mini tech work on my car, that it voids the warranty. Can anyone confirm that?

Also, quick question about warranty: my wonderful boyfriend wants to do some modifications to my car (let me just say now that I am kind of indifferent about engine mods, but will relay information to him. He has encouraged me to do my own research, but I guess the motivation is t there for me. I like the way my car runs, and I'm not sure I really want it to go faster or whatever he has in mind, but advice on that is welcome.) will modifications like replacing the inter cooler or anything hurt my warranty (he's named off a very long list of things we could do to my car, but I didn't pay that much attention, and inter cooler is about the only thing I remember. Might not even be accurate.)

I have nothing against your supercharged mini btw!! I am only the messenger!

And my boyfriend is pretty much only ever right about cars or other manly stuff. So, I give him credit where I can. :p

He should probably be the one navigating the forums lol.

So do you have an extended MINI warranty or an Aftermarket warranty?

If it is an aftermarket warrnty you should be able to go where you want...
    Check the contract.....

The warranty is through Toyota and the finance manager at the dealership told me I would have to take my car to a MINI dealership to get it worked on.

    Maybe I shouldn't have gotten a MINI at a Toyota dealership? -_-

And I don't have a contract. I just have a paper that states the terms and cost. I'll dig through my files and see if I can find anything else, but that's all I remember having for the warranty.

I also got my MINI from a Toyota dealer and always took my car to the MINI dealer when it was under the factory warranty.

Show the paperwork to your BF's dad's shop. They can find out if it honors their work on the car. I have never heard of an aftermarket warranty that required you to take it to the manufacturer dealership. The finance guy may have just been saying that THEY (the Toyota dealership) don't work on MINIs.

There is no 'magic' involved in working on MINIs.

    Maybe I missed it, but...

what year MINI is it, what model (S or non-S), and how many miles are on it?

    We're all pulling for you!

P.S. The Toyota dealer ought to haul (not tow) your car to the MINI dealer.

    :/

So when I took my Mini back in they were supposed to take it to the BMW dealership.

    They didn't.

Then they told me (after my poor mini had been there for 4 days) that they would be sending it to the Mini dealership in Houston (this was on a Thursday) I waited very patiently considering I was having major withdrawals.... And I called back on Wednesday (9 days!!) and was informed that they hadn't done ANYTHING with my car and it had just been SITTING THERE. NADA!

I got a little cranky with the salesman at that point. He hung up on me. Haha..

Then they called me the next day and informed me that the problem was fixed and I could come get it.

The problem isn't fixed, in case anyone was wondering. It didn't show when I picked up my car on Thursday, but Friday morning it wouldn't start. Saturday morning after only sitting for 3 hours it wouldn't start.

My BF is suspicious that they didn't actually do anything to my car. He's going to check out the fuel pump (this is what they said they replaced) to see if it's new, and dig around under the hood to check things out. I'm still getting all of the same error codes. It really is like they didn't do anything with it.

I'm debating whether or not I should bring it back in to the Toyota dealership, or if I should just take it to Houston. My BF has graciously offered to let me drive his new truck while my mini is in the shop again ('89 Dodge Ram 50...no AC..no power steering...no radio...manual transmission...manual everything....0_0)

Some people have suggested the lemon law? This will be the third time I have to take my car in for the same issue, so I guess I could use the lemon law...but I really like my car and unless they're going to give me a BRAND NEW MCS I don't want them to replace my car.

Not sure about where you live, but I don't think you can lemon law a used vehicle. You might want to contact your states Attorney Generals office to see what you can do. Lodging a complaint against the dealer may or may not help.

    Good luck.

What a frustrating situation! You realize that the Toyota dealership made a calculated decision to wait you out (aka jerk you around) until you got to this point. Nothing you can do about that, except write to Toyota Corporate. But it's not like they havent heard your story a thousand times. The only thing that has ever worked for me is to take your receipts and file a claim in small claims court and drag them into an appearance in front of a local authority. If your side is true, you have a sympathetic story and may get your deductible money back in a settlement once they are up against a deadline. They are probably figuring you won't put that much effort into it because who has time for all that.

Hopefully the Mini dealer can fix it for you.
