So my battery has finally bit the big one on my '05 after I stupidly let it get deeply discharged over the winter. I've had good luck with Interstate batteries in my other cars, but I can probably get a slight discount on an OEM one from Mini. Should I keep it OEM to avoid having a battery not fit properly?

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Steve

You've probably addressed this issue long ago, but oh well... Check your local parts house and look at the Interstate battery. I have had great luck with them and the one I got for my '05 MCS fit perfectly.

    Dead Battery ???

So I went to my 07 MCS convertible out of storage , just back from spring break . BATTERY DEAD , I had bought a BMW charging system plugged into the cigarette lighter . I know the battery is 4 going on 5 , but how do know if the charger was working , so I don't do this next year. So as my reading is going I should buy a Optima Red R34 and it should fit.

I've never been a real fan of those cig lighter chargers. Give me the good old fashioned clip the wires onto the terminals kind. I know then that I have a positive connection.

I got one of these off Amazon and its great. ((Read the reviews))

Its perfect for AGM (Optima) and regular old school battery's.

    I got this one.

New Interstate going into the 07 in the AM, with a Battery Tender, should be good for another 5 years. :)

I will try to take a snap of the installation as I have to hang at the shop, PES in West Denver.

    The Good and The Bad

Sam's Club has the Eveready MAX battery for $94. Installation is free. Warranty is 3 years non-prorated. 3 years and 1 day? You buy a new battery :nonod:

My standard practice is to not think about the battery until it dies and strands me in a parking lot at 101 deg with no shade for two hours until AAA comes.
