Producers are cheap, and the next one will have hot meals available.
Top talent on one of the highest rated shows the BBC has is not easy to replace.

I was a huge Top Gear fan, for many years. The last few seasons haven't been as good, IMO. Jeremy Clarkson is a significant reason for that decline, IMO.
I would love to see Richard and James revive the show. Their stuff is still good, and an funny. Jeremy has become a bitter old man -- and he's the same age as me. He seems at least ten years older. He even looks ten years older. Jeremy ******* and moans chronically.
If I were having a party at my house, I'd invite Richard and James. I just can't help but think that Jeremy would be a buzz kill. He'd probably go on-and-on about what's wrong with the party, and all the people at it.
I don't feel one bit sorry for Jeremy Clarkson. I just hate it that Richard and James got caught up in Jeremy's meltdown.

Yeah, the BBC aspect throws a wrench into things. The show is hugely popular worldwide, but the BBC is not a private corporation, their pressures and motivations are much different.
Thing is, they can still put out a good episode--the ambulance episode pretty much stands up as a classic--although they're not consistently as good as they were in the past, they're still "good enough" to warrant continuing on IMHO. Hope this all works out in the end; if Clarkson would take the Prima Donna thing down just one notch, it'd be fine. It's gotten progressively worse over the years; at some point it's just not worth it anymore. Hopefully sanity will prevail.-

Harris does not have the sense of humor that any of the three have, so the show wouldn't work. If I were a producer I'd call it a day for TG, and grab Harris for a rival show to the soporific Fifth Gear--They'd put Tiff & Co. out of business in three months. Don't try to be funny, just bring the passion to the cars the way Chris does.-

Why is the producer an idiot? Because Clarkson hit him? Because all the local restaurants were closed by the time shooting was over? By all accounts the producer is a good guy. Clarkson is not he victim here....just because he's very talented and extremely funny doesn't give him a blank check to behave any way he wants. He has a sense of entitlement that would be better replaced with just a smidgen of humility.
The producer won't lose his job. Top Gear will go on with or without Jeremy. Wether it survives long term is admittedly open to question.-

Total buffoonery on Clarkson's part. So poor little Jeremy had to eat cold cuts? At least he had something on his plate. It's indefensible. There is no excuse for his behavior, and all he had to do was say "I'm sorry." Try that behavior at your job, see how it goes for you.-

They had food! Cold sandwiches, not snacks or junk food. Probably better food than most people get. No, there was no caviar and white wine, but no reason for even a Prima Donna to go postal. Like I said, May and Hammond had no issues, but then again they aren't as self-important.
But enough of this already. I will be interested in the BBC's formal announcement; we should have the answer tomorrow.-

Just saw this tweet in an article I was reading...

News crews still sit waiting outside the #BBC to see what colour smoke comes out of the chimney to signify their #Clarkson decision.

And here Top Gear ends, at least for me. If Clarkson is pitching a new show, maybe they'll tweak it into something fresher and interesting. Hopefully he gets a little humility, not enough to ruin his sense of humor, but enough to quit acting like such a buffoon at times. And here's hoping May and Hammond rejoin him. No reason why they couldn't, all their contracts are up.

What a friggin' waste. But you simply cannot lay hands on fellow employees no matter who you are. He could've probably gotten away with the verbal confrontation, but punching someone in the mouth, he left the BBC with no other option. Once it gets physical, it crosses the line.
