I really loved all three of the articles and am looking forward to more. I'd also like to say something about the BMWCCA. I have been a member for a little over a year, I've never done a track day but I've been to many of their auto-x events. I think it is one the best groups I've ever been involved with. My local chapter doesn't just encourage MINI owners to join, they welcome owners of any make of car. They must be doing something right because there auto-x events fill up (100 drivers) within 10 hours after registration opens.
Great news! I just loaded another of Marc's articles to the Library and it's now available for your enjoyment. Good stuff Marc! FYI, some will need to look up the word pedagogy...you'll see. Instructor Appreciation Month Enjoy!
Having just read the instructor appreciation month post I have 2 comments to make. 1) another good read and 2) where do I sign up for these driving schools, sounds fun and rewarding?!!
Thanks all! To sign up for CCA driving schools, join the club at BMW CCA, go to your chapter's website (or get their newsletter), and have at it! And thanks for the above discussion about MINI folks in the CCA and increasing the numbers. Bottom line for us (the club) is that membership is down, and there are thousands of people out there who could bolster it. - Marc
In case you haven't already noticed it, Nathan loaded another of Marc's articles a couple days ago. The things I do to show my car I care make others wonder Good stuff!
Thanks, Steve! This column elicited the most significant reader response I've gotten because a lot of people connected to my compulsions and shared their own. It was fun to read some of the crazy stuff people do for their cars. - Marc
Yeah, that was probably your best article yet! Can't wait to see the responses in next month's Roundel. I'm in the same boat--but I think I've decided to make my car as trackable as possible but still be able to drive it on the street--it's a compromise, but I enjoy driving the car around too much for it to be track only. Maybe I'll buy a dedicated track only car someday though. Or a Lotus. Hell, I have no idea what I'm going to do, I guess your article got me to thinking, and now I'm more confused than before I read it. Nice going Marc....
In case anyone is confused by cct1's post, he's referring to Marc's most recent column published in Roundel, not the most recent loaded here at Motoring Alliance (this one). That very interesting Roundel article cct1 mentioned just might show up here on MA soon though.....stay tuned!
Oops Steve, my bad, I assumed it was the most recent one in Roundel as I just read it last week, didn't bother to click on the link, just delete that if you want, I can write it again when that article gets posted here; I think that one will spark a fairly lengthy discussion...
Our deal with Roundel is that we have to wait at least one month after the column is published before we can republish. I think it is very generous of them to allow us even that.
Thanks! Sorry to cause you stress! Hopefully the M/A will take up the discussion when that column is posted next month... The column posted recently is from April of '09 where I discuss evil things such as car washes. - Marc
Oh I do. Aside from voting for MOTM or getting a new WhiteRoofRadio podcast it's what I always look forward to MINI-wise.
Ah, that one was from a while ago! Turns out the one part I didn't mention in the column ultimately kept me from buying it: the interior design. I did some serious test-driving/pricing with my local dealer but just couldn't get over it in the end. Anyway, perhaps one day a clubman will be mine. Until then, the new (to me) E46 is a dream. Got rid of the "nondescript" 323i from the column and replaced it with something more peppy. - Marc
