I've added the app BerryBlab to Motoring Alliance The following models are supported Bold, Bold 2, Tour, Pearl, Curve, Pearl Flip using OS 4.5+ Storm, Storm 2 using OS 4.7+ The app costs $1.99 and can be found at vBulletin BlackBerry App | BerryBlab.com from your phone Some Notes Setting Your BlackBerry's APN Some users may need to setup their APN for their phone carrier / provider. An APN is an "Access Point Name" which is sometimes required to access unrestricted data networks on Smartphones. A list of APN's for your carrier / provider can be found here: PinStack APN List * On your BlackBerry, go to "Options" > "Advanced Options" > "TCP/IP" * Check the "APN Settings Enabled" checkbox * Enter the APN * If the APN requires a Username / Password, check the "APN Authentication Enabled" checkbox * Enter the Username and Password * Save on Exit Setting Your BlackBerry's App Permissions Some users may need to change their phone's permissions to allow the BerryBlab app to properly connect to the internet. If you are having issues signing into BerryBlab, etc. you can change your app permissions as follows: * On your BlackBerry, go to "Options" > "Advanced Options" > "Applications" * Scroll through the list to find the "BerryBlab" app * Hit the menu button and select "Edit Permissions" from context menu * Change the permissions for "Connections", "Interactions" and "User Data" to "Allow" * On exit, save the changes Screen Caps of the App in Action
Ouch... While iPhone is 1.68% of all access types Blackberries do have a presence, even if it is only 0.06%. In case you are curious....
Cool statistics, and yes somebody does care...........just not me. Given the new BB access, maybe that bar will get a little bigger.
According to comscore, almost twice as many people care about BB as iPhone. The superiority complex that iPhone users maintain never ceases to amaze.
Yeah, I had AT&T for work and Verizon for my personal phone. The AT&T service sucked compared to the Verizon. I was so glad that work switched to Verizon. Sorry, but I would rather make and receive calls on my BB and text with buttons than have all of the cool iPhone apps.
This was the first app for a Blackberry that had the functionality I was looking for. As to the iPhone vs any other phone thing...no sides here. I had a phone that was just a phone and I was happy. Then along came a client with a contract that included an iPhone. I think I'd rather have a phone that is just a phone but people keep hiring me to do iPhone stuff, woe is me.
Ok, I just bought a BB, followed these instructions and downloaded the app. Now, can anyone, who still uses a BB, tell me where the app is?? I can't seem to find it on the screen anyplace. :mad2: Jim
Disregard above. I found the app. I can not get the URL to take as it says there is DIN error or something. What is the correct URL to use? Jim
I looked at the iphone and liked the larger screen, but it was heavy and too big to lug around on my belt all day. They are more like having a mini computer to carry around, which is fine, but the BB does a good job for my needs. Jim
I have. Harry walked me through some of it and said to let him know when you updated the app. I am waiting to hear back from him now and will let you know when I do. I know you are busy, so thanks for doing that. Jim
I've been working with the creator of BerryBlab and all issues preventing access to M/A from the app have been rectified. However, I do not have access to a supported Blackberry device. If you have a supported BB device please test and let me know. I'll even refund your $1.99 expenditure for the app if you PM me the receipt and your PayPal address.
This app really works well and on the forum screen you get the MA logo and name. Anyone who still has a BlackBerry, it is worth the whopping $2.99. Go try it out. Jim
Works fine on my 9700 Bold - at least on wifi (haven't tried it on 2G or 3G network speeds yet). It's free to install and free to login and read the forum (you can see your subscribed threads, PM's, etc.) You'll only need to pay for the "premium version" to post, send PM's, and see photos. It is apparently capable of handling multiple forums, and it seems like you just pay once for the app, not for each forum you want to access. Seems like a decent app and only 162KB. Wonder how well it plays with BB6? Anyone got a Torch? Might not even be necessary with that WebKit browser. Also no mention that I could find on their site about how updates are handled (say for bug fixes). What about transferability to another BB since activation is PIN based? Obviously, these questions are best asked of the developers... I think they should make the list of forums using the app a sortable/searchable list. By enabling people to quickly find other forums they already use it would help BerryBlab build a stronger case faster for buying the app in the mind of the customer - i.e., if I know only one forum utilizing the app, then I don't have much incentive to pay for the app (unless I'm a heavy user of that forum). But if I find 3 or 4 forums that I use, the incentive is multiplied.
Good points, but for me there are really only two I use, MA and Tar Heel Minis and they both have it. I do use others, but not unless I'm home. There is only one developer, he is based in Canada, a really helpfull person and gives good support. The paid version gives more options then the free one does. Hey Mark, if you don't have a BB you need to get one and support a fellow half countryman. Jim
