Kinda reminds me of when they claimed that all they needed was a four door MINI and they would set the sales world on fire.

The covid 19 lost sales are the icing on the cake. It's going to get uglier for all car makers.
Got an e-mail from the local Land Rover store. They want to pick up my Land Rover & service it for me, since I'm such a valued customer. WTH I have no Land Rover & wouldn't wish one on an enemy.-

Ypu have to be blind to not see that failure...... it has nothing to do with COVID-19.

They pretty much screwed the pooch when they went to the turbos. What was wrong with the Gen 1s that made them think additional generations were a sign of the future. Look how long the Classic Mini lasted...50 years or so with no turbos before going belly up and allowing BMW to buy out Rover and produce the "new" MINI [Gen 1] in 2002 with its larger engine but still not turboed until 2007, when all MINI's present problems began. Way to go, Bimmer World!

Yes the classic Mini lasted a long time. No way they could keep making them, heck they wouldn't even meet safety regulations in India for the past 20 years or so.
FWIW I think the turbo had very little to do with the problems MINI has had. Yes they gained a turbo in some models, but they dumped the CVT so they have that going for them. Babs clubsterman has neither of those.-
