I know you jest a little here, but jumping into an R60 JCW All4 with Michelin PSS tires, and a tighter front/rear suspension is a very, very fun ride...Mini has the most fun vehicle to carry 4 adult-sized people and their stuff around.
sorry Dave, but an R53 can't do that-(yes, I am aware that I just stuck my head squarely into the lion's mouth!)
so, if you have a requirement to tote around 4 people at times, and need to carry some stuff, why shouldn't Mini build that vehicle and make it as fun as possible?
It just shouldn't be the ONLY Mini you own![]()

That was a great diplomatic reply, Z06, about owning a Paceman (or Countryman?) but not being the only MINI in your driveway or garage.
After two months of driving my new Countryman All4 around, I drove my wife's R53 yesterday to Philly and back (100 miles each way)
And it was the first time in a while that I remembered what driving a MINI was supposed to be like when maneuvering thru city traffic or changing lanes on the PA TRPK
Of course, my wife complained incessantly and wanted to know why I had to drive 80+ MPH the whole way!
I had the standard comeback:
"I had to blow off carbon from the valves."
Not sure she bought it.
pac (hope this wasn't a total threadjack)-

""Speaking of the Countryman MINIs is planning on making the 2nd generation heavily influenced by the Dakar-winning competition car as a more ruggedly styled crossover.""
Hope it's not just 100 pounds of Dakar vinyl stickers.... but then again.... the stickers could be removed and you would have a 100 pound advantage against other stickered Dakar models....-

After getting a good close up look at one recently, I kinda like the Paceman, though I would want it as the JCW All4. But I could see driving one of those. Looks pretty snazzy.
Yes I said snazzy and I'm in my mid-ish 30s.-

Dave, just hope all the money they make from the bigger boring models fund the spiritual successor to the R53. :cornut:
