Hi, old thread. I have been going through my stuff and see I had ordered a GoMiniGo 2005-2006 Give me a Brake mod kit. I have a 2006 with the plug in the back bumper I am tired of looking at. I was going to add the light and I remembered I had read about possible BCM problems, but wanted to see if there was a solution, like combining it with LEDs. Is the GMG kit safer than a straight jumper? or is the whole thing not a good idea.

I think the GMG kit uses a diode rather than just a straight jumper, so when you hit the brakes, it prevents current from feeding back to rear fog circuit in the BCM. So, yes it should be safer.

If you want to be completely safe, use an LED bulb in the bumper fixture. I don't remember because it was so long ago, but I think I had to swap the +/- pins in the connector because it's opposite of what an LED bulb uses (polarity doesn't matter for a standard bulb). Just try it first and swap the pins if it doesn't light up.

Thanks rkw, it says it does have a diode in it. OK, I'll try that with an LED in the bumper light.

I have a 2006 with the Go MINI Go pulsar. It's been in there for like ever. Works fine, no burnt up modules. No codes when looking at them with a GT1.
