I want to be prepared when I see the insurance adjuster come Wednesday. With that in mind I plan on visiting 3 Body Shops over the next few days to get written estimates. Looking to get the names of a few that can handle custom work as Gnat is not exactly stock. I'd be grateful for some help in identifying a few please.
Nate.... Get your three recommendations.... Then I'll take you over to Keen's on 5th ave. and we can talk to the owners....
True Performance out in Plain City is freaking awesome. Expensive, but their work is well worth it. They worked on my TT after I had some chick cut a corner and take off my front end.
True performance is who did the work on Daisy's clubman after her accident. Pretty decent job but they were slow. Had some issues when we picked it up but they made it right.
They are a little slow. Took over two months for them to do the work for me, but it looked great when they were done. Best part is that their work is under warranty for the life if the car.
They are not taking on any new work or providing estimates, the property where the shop is located has been sold.
I was at Rader's at the recommendation of John from Best Motors today, it's near the airport. They were not fazed with the scope of work I discussed. Nice guy, will investigate more. Still have to get over the Keen's and talk to them. Have an appt scheduled with True Performance tomorrow. Not so hot on them right now, mostly cause it's not exactly close where both Keen's and Rader's are. Would be nice to be able to pop in now and again, not to be a pest but to get the details I see in my head correct.
Hey Nathan, I didn't get a chance to call ya before I left the shop, but I called a couple of guys I know out there. I'm not confident enough to suggest them. One of the guys is going to do some checking and get back to me tomorrow. I'll let ya know what they say.
I've decided to go with Keen's for the repairs. Now to get with them and figure out when to drop the car with them.
Going to try but the sticky point here is I go in for service 2 days after the MINI does. Figured it would be good for the car to be not available to me during the period when I'll also be somewhat out of commission too.
Well Nathan I hope you and GNAT get fixed up and rest up all Winter so you are ready for well for another MOTD in the Spring.
Nathan, Good luck on getting Gnat all pretty again. I hope your own personal repair visit leads to a swift recovery and good health. Best, Don
