The brake indicator light, the one on the tach that is read with one of the functions is to tell your e-brake is still engaged, I cannot get mine to turn off. I added a wilwood front brake kit and cannot use the brake sensor function and when I first added the wilwood's I did not have any problems. About six months later the brake indicator light came on and since then I have not been able to get it to turn off. The brakes work fine and have not had any brake function issues. What is the function of this light? 1) Tell you e-brake is on. 2) Tell you the brakes need replacing. Anything else? Any ideas of what may be causing this? thanks
Check your master cylinder & check that you have enough brake fluid. My money is on that being why it's on.
The red brake light is a warning for the e brake & low fluid. The orange one is for worn pads & is tripped by the brake wear sensor either front or rear. This is for a R50-R53 no idea about R56's.
On the R53, i learned that after you replace the sensor, the orange sensor light doesn't turn inself off. You have to replace the wire, turn the key to on (but not start) and wait 30 sec. Turn it off, then start 'er up and the light goes away.
I just went through than agranger. I have a Bentley manual & it says nothing about that little tidbit. I was pretty po'd until I searched out that info on the sewing site. Now folks can search it out here instead.
