Thanks Chuck! Hopefully I will have pictures Sunday or Monday of the car, a Chili Red R52. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
MAG called and said Kate will need a new turbo. Makes you wonder if the R56 can last long term. I was religious about changing my oil every 4000 miles. My car just passed 29,000 miles.
I had a great time this morning (my first time). Thanks for the hospitality. I'm looking forward to next month! Dwight
Sorry to hear your MINI needs a new snail. I know you take care of your cars so & abuse is involved. Hope the snail is still covered under warranty. Like Mark said it could just be a bad part.
Pictures uploaded.... Nice seeing everyone this morning. Adam great to see you, sorry you didn't bring Sara. Nice to meet you Dwight & Brad. Hope you guys keep coming around. It is good for our MINI's to socialize. :donut1: More here >>> 04-21-2012 MINI donut munch - crashton's Photos
My turbo is being fixed under warranty and I am on my way to get my loaner. My concern is not the warranty just that the turbo failed early in the life of the car. If the next one fails in 30000 miles, that won't be under warranty and I imagine it will be crazy expensive. Maybe that is a great time to upgrade to a better turbo. Sorry I did not get to see the gang especially Adam our SC "club" member.
Yes if it goes again & it is on your dime might as well upgrade at that time. That being said I'm sure it will be fine for many many miles. Nice of MAG's service department to not blame this on your mods. MAG service.
Mine is a 2009. I have replaced aux water pump, timing chain tensioner, still waiting for my HP fuel pump to fail, and now my turbocharger. Not sure about 2009 quality being any better than other years. Amber was out sick this week. Her fill in rep thought my car had a supercharger earlier today on the phone. When I went for my loaner, he told me my clutch was shot and needed replacement. I said I was here about my blown turbo and they had a confused look that was not confidence inspiring. I can't wait for Amber to get back.
I always found it odd that MAG never mentioned my wheels and other orange parts. You would think with their personalization marketing they would make a note in the system to mention things that were customized. My Subaru the techs always mention my roof. Maybe it is that so many MINI are custom they just don't recognize it and since 99% of Subarus are un-modded mine makes an impression. I remain in the blagh side on MAG I feel like as soon as they opened the larger campus they lost some of the special service they had before. I bought a VW from them in 1997 and the day I picked it up there was a guy picking up a new 911 and we were treated exactly the same, he had to wait for me to sign my paperwork. With my MINI I always felt that if a BMW owner asked for anything they would give it to them, where I was a second class customer.
Bummer on the turbo Doug! It was awesome to see everyone!. Just like old times standing out in the cold haha. Repped the badge all the way back.
