Hey Savvy, I just cut through Delaware on 301 on my way to BWI from Richmond. I waived but I didn't see you.... Now, back to the BAD/Welshman banter

Well, a track newbie might be leery of driving fast if it is his first time at Mid Ohio. That's why the newbies are in Group D and those a tad faster get bumped to C.

I've got just under 30 2-day hpdes there with BMW CCA and you can find me in the A or B group, although I prefer the B to the A, just because my modded S is a "tad" slower than those Bimmer Ms, Corvettes, Aston Martins, Bentleys, Lotuses, Audis, Porsches, AMGs, and occasional Mustangs, Cobras, GTRs, and Ferraris. THEY mostly lurk in the A group [it is NUTS there], although even some of them drop down to B, too [for their sanity]. It's fun and you learn a lot about what your car can do as well as what you can tolerate, but it is intense. And, after 2 days of seat time and classroom instruction, you get to drive home at humdrum highway speeds.

Mid Ohio is a great venue, but, if you have never tracked your car before and still want a good learning experience, go to Putnam Park, in IN. I went there with the R50 when I first started, as well as to Autobahn, outside Chicago. The R50 did fine at Putnam Park but got clobbered at Autobahn. That's when I decided to buy my MCS and mod it. The S has been to Putnam Park for 22 2-day hpdes with BMW CCA.

I enjoy fast driving in the "somewhat" controlled environment of the track. I do NOT enjoy driving fast on public highways just to show off. If fast is what you like, then sign up for an hpde and really learn how to drive.

Good turnout of cars despite the on and off rain showers. Quite a few Mini/MINI's as well as a nice collection of Range Rovers. I saw Matt, Russell and Stephen there enjoying themselves.

I was at Polaris picking up a suit and saw some cars driving in and out. It wasn't raining so I stopped, had a beer, and walked around. Not the typical turnout but I think the attendance has been steadily going down. As us Old Farts are dying off the weed hoppers don't appear to be embracing the older British iron.

I had considered driving up this morning but had something planned for noon that I couldn't be late for. It seems like the event has been getting smaller every since it moved from Dublin, but that could also be due to your theory as well.

My non-club trip to the Brit car show....

After morning coffee with lady Babs I drove over & did a walk around. Spent a couple of hours catching up with old friends & talking with some new ones. I also had a fun time playing with my box of wires with a lens on front. :D

    Sorry I missed you Mark.

What do these 2 cars have in common? :)

Yes it is. I'm acclimating nicely to it. Some aspects of it are frustrating, don't try & track a moving target. But the files it gives me I really like. Plus I can crop a bunch which I can't do with my Nikon 1" sensor cameras. I may be moving away from my Nikon 1 camera.
