The bulb icon went up on my dashboard yesterday.
All bulbs actually work fine, except sometimes my left
headlight flashes on and off (not doing it anymore).
Error codes* on scanning indicate a variety of bulbs "out".
Can clear them but some come back when I restart.
Turn signal flashes fast, although as I said, all 6 turn
bulbs are working. It flashes slow when the hazard switch
    is on.

I'm really hoping it's not the footwell module as that could
set me back about a grand to have it replaced and coded.
I'm not fluent with ISTA-P (use Schwaben and Launch x431
    scan tools).

Should I take out the footwell module and inspect it for
loose or corroded connections, water ingress, or other
    obvious or potentially fixable causes?

    *error codes for:
reverse light, 30B, left tail light, RR indicator, FL indicator,
L dipped beam, R side marker, L xenon more than 3 attempts.

After clearing, one or more come back on at the next startup,
but just a few, not the whole list above.

All of these bulbs and all the rest of them light properly and
have never seen any of them not light except for the
intermittent flashing of the left xenon at times.

I wont much help on this one. My wife R56 keeps giving a bulb out light. when I would check it it would say it was the left brake light. I changed bulbs but it would come back. I ended up buying her a pair of new tail lights she liked from OutMotoring. I haven't had the problem sense. Minis can be finicky about the bulbs you use and can cause odd problems I have seen this also. Have you replaced the bulb in your left head light? that could be the source of the problem? Are you getting a code for the footwell module?

First off -good news, the problem fixed
itself after sitting outside in the sun after
    driving to work today.

    No recent bulb changes.

Most of the bulb codes are in the
footwell module section of the code reader.

Will check out the footwell module and
treat the connections with deoxit, etc.
at my convenience sometime in the next
few weeks, or sooner if it acts up again.
