Sorry to be late to this party.

    1) unlatch the inside ones first. Reach in and around, and give the latch a good yank. I pulled the Left one first, then the right one. Then unlatch the outside latches (the ones facing you). The cover should drop straight down.
Notice in the video, he did the same thing. If you unlatch the outside ones first, there is not enough space to reach your fingers around to get at the inside.
    2) The filter slides in and curves (bends) up. Carefully slide it in and up. I used the filter's folds as leverage for pushing the filter in.
    3) Once fully seated in, the cover should go in straight up until it latches.

I noticed my cover is slightly different than the one on the video. It has a ledge inside that holds the filter in a curved position. I don't see that ledge (or tab) on the youtube video.

    Teddy,

That cover and filter is a pain in the ass. I hate it. I got the front open and push and pulled the damn thing until it came loose, After the cover is off I got the stupid filter out the new one is a pain in the ass to get in and the cover back on.

If I was you I would let one of Chad’s guys replace it for you at the Dragon next week.

This must be something they improved on the R56, because it took me a matter of minutes on my MINI. It looked like a PITA from the online graphics I looked at, but turned out to be surprisingly easy.

Things usually go the other way -- looks easy, then ruins your day off. o_O:)
