I dumped the Turbo from Ben C’s Motor and will be adding a TVS 900.

I am not a fan of turbos at all for my own reasons.

Should be interesting to see a new dyno chart with your TVS 900 compared to Ben's big numbers chart. I'm interested in the shape of the curve as well as the numbers. Hope you get it all put together soon. Let us know in the build section?

The motor has done those numbers already so it can be done again. I am switching it back to SC because they are more reliable and a linear power curve. Do I expect to push that amount driving around daily, hell no.

My project is no rush, I am buy a lot of brand new OEM parts so it will be a fresh build. I will have a new Radiator, AC, oil housing, RMW BVH refresh, new TVS900 ... on and on. You know me I never do anything quickly, but when it is done it will be completed with all new or high end parts. (( Insert evil laugh ))

Jan made some awesome numbers on that 2.0 ltr and turbo. These engines will hold a lot of power. A person I know in the UK was pushing 480+ WHP on Nitrous-oxide for the drags, and all things are fine.

    All good points..
    1) There will be a selection for which Dyno type (wheel or engine).
    2) The conversion question is a good one. Have to think through that.
    3) Descriptions, good call. I need to think through the best way to do that.

I’ll provide a more though response later today when I’m back in front of PC. That said, very nice numbers. You built that yourself if memory is correct?

Can’t wait to see that. Would be awesome to document the engine build/refresh. Do you have the specs on the engine? Ie what was changed to produce the previous power... and what you are going to change for yours?

My "sleeper" would be kinda useless if I didn't drive it to / from town once in awhile. Being retired, I don't fight daily traffic, but living in the 'burbs requires a fun 30 minute trip to town. As for pushing all the power, there's no need to "put the pedal to the metal" --- there's great performance at low RPM's, and the WMI keeps carbon build-up to a minimum. Then, on the final stretch home, an occasional short "heavy foot" burst to clean things out.

Yes --- me, a couple machine shops, Thumper for head work, and EuroTechsAZ for Manic tuning. Started in 2011 --- been quite the project, so much to learn, mistakes made and corrected. Still making plans for the next mod, but gotta pacify a spouse first --- throw money at her instead of the Mini.

EDIT: Oops, I didn't do it all --- early 2011 a dealer switched heads for me, OEM to Thumper's. Then late 2011, I found a moonlighting Mini tech to install the OSG clutch / flywheel / LSD. I didn't have the know-how or tools for either task. Since then, I've done both head and clutch / flywheel removal / replacement.

Ah good times.. love those little "short burst".

I can only imagine. Once you pacify the misses.. can't wait to see what you do next.

No plans yet except for what I mentioned already. I have engine specs, but I am not sharing those for my own reasons. I am in the buy and collect build parts phase right now.

I’m going with the TVS soon and wondered what you are doing engine wise? Mine should be here next week and hopefully up and running within a couple of weeks. I have the typical mods including Bytetronik.

Working on the Dyno stuff today. Anybody have good pics of their Mini on a chassis Dyno... and anyone have any pics of a Mini engine on an engine dyno?

Let's see if this link is still working --- I was only putting down 360+ when this 17 sec video was taken. Up to 383WHP currently.

Nice - did you happen to take any still pictures while it was on the Dyno?

Sorry, no. I realize you asked for stills originally, but thought a video, with sound, was more appropriate for a dyno pull. If you need a still for some other purpose, feel free to take one of the frames from my video.

Will do - that was my plan B should you not have a still. :)
