The general rule is the further you are from stock, the more benifit you will see from a tune. The nature of adding a cam to a motor imo almost REQUIRES a tune imo to get the most out of the longer duration of the valve openings to get more fuel in to make more power...
The head and cam is where real power can be made, but also $$ money too, so many (including myself ) have shied away. Many folks do run cams, no tune, but one of the basic plusses of it is longer duration valve openings...so why not make use of it....with the longer duration openings, you can push more air in, and out....with no changes on the computer, this means the same amount if fuel....can become leaner....and a sc motors come rich from tge factory for a reason....imo if you want a long life out of a forced induction motor, try too keep a similarity rich fuel/air ratio.

i am still curious if the 380cc and the JCW 210 tune could support 17%, intake, cat back, cam, Intercooler, and maby a header mod.

i know that without a tune i wouldn't get the most out of it but the cost difference (cost of tune and the travel to get the tune) is big for not allot of gain (est. 5-10hp) and i don't have any issues with drivability of the stock tune.

    My mods are:
TPR2 Head ( soon upgraded to 2r Head)
    Custom grind camshaft (225* @.050 )
    Cat delete
    15%
    CAI
    Custom exhaust
    OBXr Header
    Snow Performance Water-meth
    Shift points at 7500 revs

    A/F is 11.3-11.6 @ 7500 revs

    A/F is 10.9 @ 7800 revs on the bottle ( Wet shot)

(* Custom means not necessarily for the public)

I have had the revs raised.. STOCK Inj.

Inj are at 100% cycle rate at 6900 revs.
Went to JCW inj, and they were at 100% cycle rate at 6900 revs also.

    OEM MAP at this time.

Just thought you would like some dangerous opinion..lol

SOOOo... I would say the JCW inj and Tune will carry a 6900-7K engine. ( ?? )

    Just me.............................

i think ull be fine...ive been running the JCW 380s now for 70+k miles without an issue

    here are my mods
    15% pulley
    Alta intake
    RMW torque cam
    RMW shorty header
    magnaflow exhaust
    brisk plugs
    RMW tune
+ a whole bunch of ancilliary parts here and there

as long as you get the sucker tuned right you should be fine...though i cant speak for the condition of your engine but i know that in my case the 380s were just fine and ive been running all over hells half acre with my mini and it hasnt missed a beat

    Also, yes.

As Thumper was pointing out as long as your on the stock rev limiter you can do most mod's and they will "work" simply because of not trying to go over 100% duty cycle for extended periods of time.

The only real difference is not being able to take full advantage of your parts, but the ECU will adapt enough for it to be safe.

Thanks guys, i have a 17% pulley so i don't plan on revving past the stock limiter.

I think for me at least the JCW 210 tune and injectors will be the best bang for the buck on my dd.
