I did this to my 2004 R53 last spring...installing leather seats from a 2006. As I recall the connectors were the same, but there were some bracket differences that caused me to take some parts off the old seats and install on the new seats to make the installation successful.
Also, the 2006 leather seats did have the heating elements which were just an additional connector I did not use...just tacked them up out of the way.
Best plan is to save your old seats and use any parts needed to make the conversion successful.

My understanding is that they just have additional plugs for the heat and sensor, not a different one.

From everything I've read is yes it can be done. There is a write up here somewhere on the details.
I'm considering it myself. -

Thanks. I was thinking of offering them up for sale, but without the weight sensor, the passenger seat would only work in a 02-04 car.
