Mark Brentlinger, CEO of MAG. says....
He sees SPARC as a magnet for the gatherings of local and regional car clubs
Now if they support it like they currently do for local regional clubs then the place is doomed. MAG did NOTHING when the BMW CCA was in town recently for their annual Oktoberfest. That is a huge BMW CCA thing, so if MAG won't even support that just a tiny little bit then whats that say...

I sure wish them luck. If you have been by there recently you'd see there is hella much work to do. It would be a small bullring type of place. I'd think sound control could help keep the neighbors happy. Run them with mufflers. I'd be happy to run there.

If this were to be built my question would be is if development would go up around it. This could be a great thing for the city to bring attraction and revenue and for people to experience and enjoy this great city. I just don't want to see a great attraction wasted because sloppy exterior development such as the normal main street type stuff; McDonalds, Auto Zone, Wal-Mart, etc... I think it would be nice to link this development with its surrounding Architecture and lifestyle.
Having said that, I don't understand why people are so concerned about noise; Columbus used to host some racing events through the city like the IMSA Columbus 500 GTP. This was slightly before my time but...

The city was behind that event. At least until Buck decided he didn't want it any more. The Columbus 500 was once a year for 4 or 5 days. The facility at Cooper stadium will be there every day.
I'm for it, but can understand the locals concerns. I think there is more sound coming from I 70 than will come from Cooper Stadium. -

Wish they had HD back then. The quality of the video reeks, but was cool to see. I was standing on the Broad St bridge at Washington.

The infield looks mostly paved, that would be good for AutoX. I also like the idea of a BMX track there, the company that designed and built the Olympic course is headquartered here in Columbus.

I need a autox course since the OSU lot is gone forever.

OSU sold it and the new owners are not open to people renting it. I know most of the local clubs are having trouble finding anything as good as the OSU lots. We need an airport to get decommissioned

This website is helpful. My friends a pilot, he may know of a few more. -
Close one for a couple hours maybe but let's not close one for good. I am biased on this though. -

You guys a lucky because they could only race Monster Trucks on the streets of Philly.
Some streets still have the original "colonial" cobblestones and lately 48 inch water mains have been breaking everywhere in the city. -

Too bad the closest one is two hours away
Looking back at history England has a better racing culture today because of all the airports built durring WWII. Not that I want a WW coming to American, just saying it is a weird result from history.
