Cooperjet if you have any E46 questions let me know. I was shopping for a dark grey vert for a couple months before I fell on my WRX. They are great cars just have to check for rear subframe cracks and messed up vanious. Other than that they are pretty reliable cars. In a few years I would not mind finding one as a track toy or possibly a vert as a toy car. They are the last of the true M3's to me. A V8 is not an M3. It is also funny that the current car is no faster around the ring than the E46 CSL.
Yes the SMG cars are known to burn through clutches and they drive terribly, they were decent when new but the technology has moved so far forward since then that the tranny really holds the car back.
Test drove a 2005 R52, dark silver. It was just missing heated seats. I've yet to drive anything with runflats and I couldn't believe how rough it was. It had brand new p zeros. I'm actually considering this one as overall it drove really nice. Oh, and there were no snakes under the bonnet. Always a plus!
Sounds nice. I'm not sure I'd be happy in the winter without my heated seats, but I run cold. I run those things all winter long and parts of Spring and Fall too. I do love the color. Any mods on it? It was an S right? Ali
Yeah, definitely an S. No mods. I looked to see if the seats had the extra connector for the heat, but no such luck. I use them a lot in my hardtop so they are a must have. Not sure if it is economical to do aftermarket or just keep looking. The BRG one that you looked at for me sold I guess. Shame I couldn't work a deal on that. Maybe if it had been closer.
I think I've decided to get it. Just need to work out the details. The dealer said that their aftermarket people can do the heated seats for 400. Doesn't seem too bad. Now I just need time to go back and negotiate. The wife likes it too. Hope that doesn't mean I spend more time driving the Suburban!
Check with the aftermarket place about the costs of retrofitting heated seats $400 seems low. Not that a used car salesman would tell a fib.... Good luck I hope you can snag this one. You should bring it to breakfast so we can do a pre-purchase inspection for you.
I was figuring close to 800 for the seats, but this is the quote that they got. The lower price leaves me slightly worried. We will see how it works out.
400 sounds about right for the dealer to put some kindeling under the seat and install a lighter down there to get it going. But don't worry that is the same system Ferrari used in the 458. That is one HOT car!
I've always liked flame paint jobs on hot rods. Even those look very real they just don't look quite right. :mad5:
Actually using the dealer at least for the parts makes sense. Although the aftermarket has come a long way since the old days of kindling under the seats.
