My circle-track-racing co-worker was kind enough to bring in his Intercomp scales today. My stripped-out 2002 MCS "#848" without sunroof and full tank of gas weighed in at 2470, with 64.1% on the front and a 49.5% cross. Its honestly much more than I expected, but does appear in line with the rest of the weights here considering how extreme my setup is.

By "stripped-out" I mean light flywheel, crank pulley, Rev.A Quaife, Cooper-style exhaust, Braille 15# battery, Sparco seats, Autopower 4-point bar, Schroth 6-point belts, lightweight suspension, brakes, wheels, and of course stripped out interior.

great thread idea. my car is currently on a plasma cutter, air saw, hole saw weight reduction program. i will also be doing a sunroof-ectomy. the car will be on a high fiber (carbon fiber) diet. i hope to get the dry weight down to 2050#. i'll let you know how it goes.....i also hope to shed about 20 lbs. of unneccessary driver weight.

Did you do the R56 trailing arm swap...thats 12lbs right there.

You can shave another 8lb over a Braille Battery with one of these too...

Don't forget the H-Sport Comp rear bar is lighter than stock, as are Helix rear control arms, Wilwood 11.75" or TSW brake kits. Tossing the A/C is worth about 20 pounds, and going to lightweight seats [as in <20/each] will save 50 pounds in blubber.

--->beaner; you have any pics or info on your project?

If you want to add mine, my '03 JCW loaded with everything weighed 2760 with a mostly full tank of gas, S'lites, sunroof and only factory options, no mods.....

I'm taking my '09 Clubman S to the track in 2 weeks, I'll have that one for you then. It is an automatic, no sunroof, with the same tire/wheel combo that was on my '03.

What's the easiest way to weigh your car? Can one just go to one of those truck weighing stations?

Sorry, just found my notes - 2670, not the other way round.....

Yes, truck scales, or your local feed store might be more accomodating if they're not busy. Moving and storage places also have truck scales....
