I installed a BSH OCC on my r53 a few years ago, I got less than 10mL of oil in it over ~10k miles and the occasional intermittent of P1498 unmetered air codes. I un-installed late last year and haven't had a code since.... fingers crossed that was it though. Also weight reduction :biggrin5: my experience might not be average as the car is used almost exclusively on track so high rpm and temps.

It all depends on how much muck you get.....some get very little, others more.

Best place to check is in the IC. Take it off and see how dirty it is. I prefer the can vs R&R the IC on a regular basis.

You just want to make sure it is installed properly. If it is no worries.

    I had one, now I don't.

With the M7 one, when you start tossing vacuum leak type codes, check the "sight glass", mine melted away. It's no more than aquarium airline tubing.

Interesting in bumping this. Dave you mention it would cause vacuum issues, what sort of issues were you talking about?

I've had mine for 30k, and only now have started to have P1498 problems, mind you I have a brand new inlet tube and profile gasket I put on maybe 2k ago. I'm also getting an insane amount of oil leaking from where the the supercharger/inlet tube join.

I was saying I only use OEM rubber IC boots not the Alta or M7 silicone intake boots or I/C couplers. The silicone ones do not seal well and always cause boost leaks.

As for a Oil Catch Can, I don't need one since I have an R53 and I run METH. :cornut::D

Well if my gauge is correct, I don't have a boost or vac leak but I do have a P1498 and way too much excess oil coming from the inlet tube/supercharger area. Am I supposed to be running a crankcase breather on these cars?

If OIL is seeping/LEAKING out around the boots or joint....air can get out too!! Hate yo be blunt, but if you see leakage, the boots/gaskets are NOT WORKING RIGHT. Period. Same for ANY OTHER CONNECTION.....look at the inlet tube...might have a crack in it or the connector....think way might sell a few bit like that...
If it is the boots....Get new boots!! They shrink and harden as the cage(OEM), and the silicone ones are just for looks IMO...more trouble prone and harder to use.

Think you might have misread something Zippy, I actually have 0 problems with my intercooler boots.

The only area on my car where I have oil leaking/seeping from is between the supercharger inlet, and the plastic throttle body inlet tube that uses a green profile gasket to seal itself against the supercharger. The tube was ordered brand new as well as the profile gasket from MINI and I inspected them thoroughly since the first inlet tube they sent me had a huge crack in it which caused my car to idle like garbage. Its possible the horrific oil leak could be causing the code, but the car is currently idling fine and when I did have a leak there prior like I said it sounded like a small block V8 with a 404* cam.
