    I would agree with Crashton, go high-flo catted, wrap it, enjoy it. If all you are looking for is more HP, I would have Jan do a suicide tune. :) :)

    I had two of Jan's tunes on my 07, one was insane and drivable and the other was just going to blow my engine due to my driving style. :)

    Wish I had my 07, might buy it back I still own the tune package for it! Might need a reload since the current owner migh have let the dealer update the ecu, sad! :(

    Lee, when Mark owned the Helmet he did everything that was possible for “reliable” power. I am sure he considered the same down pipe mod and the cons outweighed the pros after reviewing with Jan, Colin and others.

    Just saying...... keep it the way it is because its a well modded car that is fast and it’s works.

    Yea - You can tune that out... I also think I remember reading about some way to bypass (fool it) mechanically. On mine, when I switch to the stock tune, it comes on. Once I flip it to a tune, it goes away.

    On the VW side of things some folks use an extender in an attempt to kill check engine lights. Works for some so it's worth a shot. Most of them VW guys just end up chasing their tail.

    I hope you have better luck. At least you don't have smog checks. For those that do it's really big problem.

    What you do is your business, but why use a catless down pipe? Buy the one with a high flow cat & keep it clean. Having driven behind a MINI without a cat all I can say is they truly stink & throw all kinds of carp out the tail pipe. :Whistling:

    First - don't listen to me... bad influence. Shooting fire sometimes is fun. I remember test driving the GP2 car and it made me giggle. That said, I know there is nothing left in the muffle (was already a catless downpipe).

    Dave agree in many ways. Lee - refer to my first statement. That said, I know you like to work on stuff and make it yours. Its hard to "leave" something alone. I fully understand... if you like to build stuff, hard to leave it alone (says the man who has two engine projects in his garage... lol)

    While I'm no expert in turbo's (still learning)... I do like the Aquamist system. Seems to work well. That said, I need to do a flow test etc as you should do that as part of a maintenance schedule from what I've read.

    I am concerting it because of the higher flow. But the one with the cat may be as good I don’t know. But if I go catless I can spit fire out my rear end! Like feeding the Helmet jalapeños!:p:D:D

    This is true. I was just looking too squeeze a little more out. I did talk to Jan amount 6 months or so ago about Meth but did not think to ask about the down pipe. The meth would keep it clean and he said I would not have to retune for it.

    I have look at the AME meth system there is a big price difference in it and the Aquamist. But from what I have read Aquamist sounds like its best for the Mini.

    I am pretty sure I still have the JCW plugs. I have changed them but I put the same ones Mark had in it. I will check tomorrow and let you know.

    @minirab I pulled a plug it looks like I have the ILZKBR7B8DG. I believe that is the stock JCW.
    Are you planing on going with one colder?

    Another reason I was thinking about this is the car is to damn quiet. I don’t want it real loud. I looked into a new cat back but was told between the turbo and cat it won’t be much different. So a little better flow and a little more sound may be worth it. Mark already deleted the resonator.
    The only thing is the check engine light but from what I have read putting some sort of O2 extender on it will do the trick.
