Stumbled across this and thought you all might get a kick out of it. I'll bet Crash remembers those days. Stock Footage - United States Army trainees undergo a cavalry training at Fort Hayes in Columbus, Ohio.
I love old photos & film. In 1940 my Father mustered into the Army at Fort Hayes. Many of the old buildings are still standing at Fort Hayes. It is now a Columbus school. Those guys were detailing their horses & shaving their tires down for better cornering. Sort of what we do today with our 4 wheels steeds. Thanks Jim.
Pretty Neat. I've been in Ohio my whole life and I am pretty darn sure that the "Wagon Train" segment of that film is from somewhere else. It's pretty darn flat here in Columbus. We have tall buildings and tall corn. Both of which are on flat ground.
No MM. I have my letter saying that I have passed the magic age and am no longer eligible to be recalled to active duty. Someone else said that the film was NOT Ohio. Having never visited that fair state, I believed it was. I guess the recruiters lied, even back then.
