I am planning a short drive around the California central coast on Saturday August 8th.

I was thinking of one of two options. Both about 2 hours of driving on some twisty roads and then lunch.

Option 1 - Pozo Saloon for Lunch:
Start at Pismo Beach Donut Derelicts, head to Morro Bay, take Hwy 41 through Atascadero to Creston and Hwy 229 (one of my favorite roads) then over to Hwy 58 then finally to the Pozo Saloon for lunch.

    Option 2 - Wine Tasting & Picnic:
Start at Pismo Beach Donut Derelicts, head to Hwy 1 and eventually to Hwy 166. Then Hwy 166 to Tepusquet Rd and over to Cambria Winery. After a little wine tasting then to Garey Deli to pick up sandwiches and on to Rancho Sisquoc winery for tasting and a picnic.

Please let me know if you want to go on a drive and which Option you would prefer.

I ask because if Pozo I will make sure they will be open. If wineries I will make reservations with a headcount.

I will work up details with route and way-point times and send out before the event. In general we will meet at Pismo Beach OSH around 8:00-8:30 to check out the cars at Donut Derelicts and head out on the drive about 9:00 with lunch around 12:00.

Only two CCMC members (Mike D and Pat K) were able to attend our drive to the Pozo Saloon but we had a great time. We starting in the morning at the Pismo Beach Donut Derelicts car enthusiast gathering. After checking out all the cars and having a donut, we took back roads through Pismo Beach, Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo, Baywood Park, Morro Bay, Creston, and finally made it to the Pozo Saloon built in 1858. It was a nice two hour drive with the highlight being the six mile roller coaster drive across Hwy 229 from Creston to Hwy 58 (east of Santa Margarita). This road is perfect for the Mini Coopers. We had great burgers and drinks mixed with plenty of car talk.
