Ok, well I have another code today and I am adding on to this thread as it may just be another manifestation of the same thing.
Today's code is a P2270 (O2 Sensor Signal Stuck Lean)

First thing to do is get it up on the jack stands and see if that damn flange is leaking again.

P2096 will only clear when the adaptations are cleared. If the issue has been remedied, it will not return. You can clear this one with a handheld, but it will return even if the issue is resolved. The adaptations must be cleared/reset. Typically the 'issue' is that extra air is entering the intake or exhaust.

P2270 could be just a bad O2, or could be related to the above code, this one will clear itself after the issue is remedied, after a few restarts, or you can clear with a handheld.

Buy the BAVTECH tool from Helix, Way or FES and be done with it. It's a great tool that every Mini owner should have in a toolbox anyhow.

It will read codes, tell you what they are allow you to clear them after corrected.
I will allow you to rest your adaptives. It works for R53 and R56.

And for only $286.00 bucks it will save you a lot of time troubleshooting most problems and you won't get dirty.

You don't have a 3 VIN limit with the enthusiast version if you don't register your VIN's
