Ironic that he got rid of one of the best handling cars you can have for one that is set up to make left hand turns......
Dale E sold that car on eBay... it had way too much bling (said the guy with 1/2 of his engine bay parts in red)... chromed, diamond-plate floor mats? Really?
As if anyone would really c-a-r-e what he drives...or even notice that he is in town. Sheesh! Ego misplaced, that's for sure!
You have to wonder how much of what is printed is what the person actually said, or was taken out of context? In this case, I know that he is really a down to earth guy and very nice. Jim
Well, you know what reporters do. They ask piercing questions during an intensive interview, take copious notes and then make stuff up! I know, it's happened to me! Dave
He's a celebrity NASCAR driver (and Wikipedia says his estimated net worth is $300 million). I have no doubt that he gets stopped for autographs when he's in town, and as a race car driver everybody will look at what he's driving.
Chevy was afraid it was too much of a chick car??? Not manly enough? Musta been the 4th of July, Apple Pie and "Bangers and Mash" just didn't fit in???
This makes sense if you think about it. Even if the MINI was his POV, the fact that he owns and drives one is a passive endorsement for MINI. I could see Chevy not liking that. Jim
Do you think he actually paid for she Corvette and truck he mentioned? He was and still is a Chevrolet driver, they spend bucket loads of money to have him represent...Now why would they want him seen driving anything but a Chevrolet, be it a Mini or a Ferrari? The latter of which he could easily afford along with any other car made... Do you see him in those, so do you really think he would rather drive a Chevrolet? LOL
Well, as a NASCAR driver I think as long as he is not driving a Ford or a Toyota, GM would not be to harsh. Still, sponsorship money is I am sure a consideration.
I'm sure it's more of a case of.... We're Chevy, we're giving you big bucks, we want you driving Chevy's.... Now stop being seen in that "Foreign" thing, and besides..... it's in your contract, read the fine print.....
