For around $24 for a 5 quart jug at WW, you can't beat it. I run Mobil 1 in all of my vehicles except for the HD. -

So Mini and Dave.0 say 5w30, but Mobil 1 say 0w40. Is this just a preference? or is there an advantage to doing the 0w40?

Thats just odd cause my oil cap and manual says 5w30. Guess Ill put 0w40 in next time.

Note that Mobile 1 0w-40 meets both the ACEA A3/B3 and A3/B4 specs and has very acceptable HTHS (though it's not the highest on the list). That's why it's listed in the MINI manual and why many of us choose to use it. -
