I am constantly having check engine light come on. 2010 clubman. It typically goes off after a few tanks of fresh gas but why does this keep happening?? Runs horrible at idle and seems to not be firing on all cylinders. Lacking power. Also just had tires replaced and now my low air pressure warning light is on. Is this just due to new tires or did the mess up a sensor? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Take your MINI to an Autozone parts store, they will read any codes you have for free, then post the codes here or go to this page to find out what the codes mean: http://www.motoringalliance.com/library/all-about-mini-coopers-17/ecu-codes-chart---2nd-generation-mini-102/ Your owner's manual will have instructions on how to reset the low pressure warning light. Be sure that you check that the tire pressure is the factory recommended pressure as shown on the sticker on the driver's side door jam, before resetting the low pressure warning light.
Welcome, thanks for joining Motoring Alliance, the FUN and Friendly MINI Community. Is this an S, JCW or Justa?
031 is not a complete code. P0031 - HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 Sensor 1), Probably not that. P0131 - O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank1 Sensor 1), possibly this, maybe a bad O2 sensor.
These are the codes. One is the break pad sensor cable needs to be replaced. Got that one figured out Second is the #147 which I suspect is due to new tires not "being mini approved" no star with circle. My bad I knew that and didn't think about it when getting tired. May not ever reset... My main concern is the rough idle and cc Id code 031 with the check engine light. This seems to happen in relationship to gas. It's done it a few times but the engine light has never blinked before. It comes off/on depending on RPM. Added recommended fuel additive and changed spark plugs out but just wondering if this is a common mini problem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
CC ID codes are general codes accessible by the diver through the turn signal stock. To read the actual codes, you have to plug a code reader into the OBD2 port under the dash, Auto zone and many other auto parts stores will read the OBD2 codes for free. I googled CC ID 031, the most common reason is a leaky gas cap, or a failed vapor pump in the vapor control system. Get the OBD2 codes read, it'll tell you much more. There are no MINI approved tires, all the car can tell is if there is a change in tire pressure compared to when it was previously set. How old were your old tires? The batteries in the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensor) last 5 to 6 years, if you cannot reset the TPMS by following the instructions in the owners manual, you may have a bad battery or batteries in the TPMS. The tire store should have checked for this before giving you your car back.
Per the manual mini approved tires have the star and circle. Well the car is a 2010 so I'm sure one of them is due. Yah you think they would have done that. I will talk to them about that. Gotcha. Off to auto zone I go!
Welcome to M/A! You are getting some sound advice from Dave and I wish you well, too. One question remains, though...are you licensed to fly that bird?
I believe "Motor On" would go quite well with that bird, you should add it to your signature.:lol:
Thanks! I need to explore some more. I want to do some cosmetic changes to the "diva". Black out grill, door handles, and remove chrome around headlights. Just trying to find the time. But any suggestions on parts places would be great. I haven't started this project yet... It's gunna be a summer project.
Bunch of great places under the sponsors tab. eMINIparts is one of them. Out Motoring has lots of cosmetic stuff.
