shoulder detour
drove the skyway from Robbinsville to Tellico Plains last week. At the washout site, concrete barricades redirect traffic off both lanes of pavement onto the inner shoulder. Portable traffic signals are set up at each end. The road had been plowed. Never the less, some places were snow covered and slippery. None of the scenic turnouts had been plowed.
The day before we were there, we drove S. from Gatlinburg as far as we could go (newfound gap) on 441. It may be quite a while before that opens to any traffic. However, there is a monetary incentive to Phillips & Jordan Inc. for completion prior to May 15.
