The 106 Octane E85 fuel around here just begs for my attention at around half the cost of premium but alas I can't afford to have Mynes tune my car for it yet, someday though.

See that news hasn't made its way over the border yet. I'll be sure to let everybody north of the 49th know about it :D

We found Elf 104 worked well in our Legends cars. Wonder if they have any laying around the race shop? Might have to try some in the MINI!

yeah, i hear ya. That E85 is some fun stuff. In AZ, the E85 was about 40% cheaper than Premium.

Here in CA, E85 is a few pennies more than premium and the stations are far and few in between... and here we thought Kali was supposed to be a 'green' state. :mad2:

For the E85, you'll need the following:
    - 550cc injectors...
    - The Consumer version of the Bytetronik Remote Tuning SW (so you can switch maps when you switch the fuel type)...
    - Two tuned maps (one for each fuel)...

    cheers.

Shell sells 93, and some Quick Stops also have it around STL.

Shell in Ontario had 94 they bought Petro Canada and were switching over the Shell stations to Petro Canada stations, I was upset I lost my 94 source, but then I saw that they kept it around anyway. I do need to use up the last of my shell points though I have about $20 of fuel worth.

I could be wrong (and I probably am), but I read somewhere that the Shell stuff has the highest ethanol levels of all the top-tier gasolines.

    Can anybody confirm this?

Not sure but I wouldn't be surprised if stuff like that varies from US-Canada and even state/province to another.

I have a question here. I got a tank of Chevron with "0" ethonal in Robinsville and got the best mpg I ever have on the way home. Does ethanol really cut back on mpg? There are no Chevron stations in my area, sadly.

Doesn't Sunoco in Ontario carry 94. I know they did last year. Haven't been to Mosport yet this year to check it out.

Ethanol will reduce the MPG you get. And they are not req'd to post the ethanol content unless it gets to 10%.

I will usually put in half a tank of 92 and then fill it up with the 100 race fuel I have available (only unleaded I have been able to find) if I am doing a fun drive or track day.

doesn't MINI say don't use more then 10% ethynol? I thought if f'd up the fuel pump...or is that just one of their lame excuses to avoid warranty repair?

That's a good question for the guys at Mynes. I've wondered about their e85 tunes on a stock MINI with 550's. I've always had the understanding if a car wasn't setup for E85, the crap would hit the fan in the fuel system. I know fuel parts are different on a number of GM and Ford vehicles that use E85.

    Yep.
It has to do with how much energy is in the gal. of gasoline.
Gasoline is approximately 114,000 BTU's/ US gal
Reformulated with ethanol is approximately 111,800 BTU's/ US gal.

[ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline_gallon_equivalent]Gasoline gallon equivalent - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]

Also, the MINI engine management system may also de-tune the engine slightly automatically when it detects the gasoline blend.

Yep, the fuel system needs to be designed for the effects of E85 (85% ethanol:arf: + 15% gasoline). E85 won't be going into my MINI. I actively search out the good stuff (pure dino juice).

It's nice to have 93 at most of the stations around here. Plus the local Delta Sonic car washes here, Nia Falls, Buffalo and Rochester have 100 octane that's usually 1-2 $ less than at watkins Glen and Mosport.

If you drive out to Vancouver you can fill up on 94-ethanol-free :D

Yeah in my original post I said Shell but I meant Sunoco. as I had mentioned the Sunocos are becoming Petro Canada locations with a "select few" carrying Ultra94.
