MotoringFile has an article on the colors for the 2014 F56 MINI, Chili Red is not on the list. They go on to speculate that Chili Red will be a JCW only color that will come back when the JCW variants of the F56 are released a year or so later. What do you think? Should MINI drop one of the most iconic colors that haws been available since day 1.
Seems that most colors are now metallic. Another way BMW/MINI can squeeze more cash out of their customer's pockets. From what I'm seeing Pepper White may be the only non-metallic. No Chili Red.... :frown2:
Even though I don't have one, Chili Red with a white roof still represents the Holy Grail. The real one too, not the one in Monty Python. It's like saying watermelons will no longer be allowed to be green and red. It's unnatural.
At least there is still BRG. But I agree, its sacrilege to not include CR. Its a mighty fine color. That was actually my second choice.
Seem to be more CR then any color out there and if that is true why would they drop it??? Just another 1 of many mysteries from the MINI USA folks..
Omg !!! thats not right !! That doesn't make sense as MINI normally stays true to history. I mean there has been a red mini since the dawn of time...right?
This is just another glowing example of the poor decisions MINI /BMW have been making since 2007. :mad2:
Just when I had come to terms with a 3 cylinder motor, they make this announcement. Its irritating. And they make this announcement AFTER the end of the ordering period for the current car. Back to looking at Hondas CRZs and MX5s. No Chili Red, no new Mini for us. Its just that simple. I wanted a brand new 2014 Justa in Chili Red with a white top. I don't want or need a JCW and I won't buy one just to get the color. I spent $28,000 on my current Justa because I could get it the way I want it. Apparently that concept is down the drain. My current car is the second BMW Mini for us. I had a 62 and a 64 Cooper S. I've been a Mini fan since sliding window days. Whoever is in charge of color at BMW has made a very unfortunate decision on this one. Why do they do these things? No company ever succeeded by irritating its repeat customer base. Sad.
Yea, I think at first BMW was obligated to try and stay true to the classics Mini brand. Now there's been enough time they don't care any more. I believe they feel they can now take the brand in any direction they want.
Agree with Dave A. above message... CR is a paint that even 7 years old still pops when it is treated with car and the right detailing. Just ask my 2006 CR... pac
Chili Red is my favorite MINI color, and I was surprised to see the story on MF. Most likely it will become a JCW exclusive color. I don't agree with this at all, but doubt that it will be "dropped" as suggested in the thread title. Still, if the story is correct, this is a very poor decision.
