Were they installing the heatshield when the chrome scoop was put on?
There is a new part number MINI states it fits 06/13 on.....It is the exact same hood scoop as the primed stock version the only difference is the chrome plating....

The Chrome scoops need those heat shields. Helps protect the chome from peeling and warping.
