Did the first oil change today on Babs clubster. Man what an easy car to change oil on! :biggrin5: The oil was clean, but I suspected it was not synthetic oil that was used by the dealer we bought it from so I though it best to drain it & put some clean 0w40 Mobile 1 in. Figured the air filter should be replaced too so pulled the filter & found it was brand new. Sweet! I bought MANN filters from the good friends at International Auto Parts. Oh mann it does not say MINI or BMW on the filter.
When Babs comes home from shopping I'm going to pull it out. If need be I have a new MANN charcoal one ready to pop in.
:cornut: k-huevo has a thread/post about after market oil filters and how many of them are just mm too short and allow the circulating oil to bypass the filter. I hope that Mann wasn't one of them. Jason
I have the same oil drain pan. Works great.... I made my own ramps by nailing 2x10 boards together (not so good). They tend to get pushed when I'm trying to raise the various cars. I need to get something better.
Jason I really do appreciate the help & concern. I matched up the Mann & the oem & they both are dimensionally the same. Mann filters are all I have used in BLU BRIT. It is a shame the R53 & R56 use different filters.
Hey Chuck! Pulled down the cabin filter & it has new Mann one. Guess the one I bought gets to sit on the shelf for a year or two.
Hrm, that makes me wonder. Does the dealer use synthetic oil in the R53? I know in a turbo car it's required, but not sure about supercharged.
Yes the R53 requires synthetic oil & that is what the dealer will put in there. We bought the Clubman at a non-MINI dealer, a Subaru dealer actually. A MINI dealer will always put synthetic in.
