I think he is worth every pound he earns.

The Top Gear would not be the best entertainment Auto oriented show in the world if not for Clarkson.

He is great at his job and knows exactly how to treat his guests.

He is like a "British ***JOHNY CARSON*** and I hope they treat the "Captain Slow & the Hampster financially well because the show would not be the same without either one of them.

I guess you can tell it is my favorite TV show.

WRC comes in a close second.

The other two are not eating scraps either. Hamster has a very nice estate and a collection of exotic cars. Captain Slow has a penchant for buying and restoring Rolls Royces, not exactly a poor mans hobby.

This is what happens when you are on... "The most popular TV show in the world." done in Clarkson pompus voice over. Not sure that is an actual fact, but I seem to remember reading it somewhere. It is probably still less than many footballers or whatever they call soccer players over there.

Without Clarkson there is no Top Gear, witness the recent Christmas special that only featured the Hamster and Captn Slow. Compared with what US hosts make I think it could even be on the low side of the pay scale

Agree. While the chemistry between all three is what makes Top Gear, Clarkson is the ingredient that brings it to a boil....

If anyone doubts his value, just look at the American Top Gear.

I found the series Toy Story with James May Captain Slow hugely entertaining. No Clarkson's or Hampster's were there.

    Check out this episode

May re-created the banked track at Brooklands in Scalextric track.[20][21][22][23][24]
The track was assembled by 400 volunteers and used approximately 20,000 pieces which measured 2.75 miles (4.43 km) long. The building of a track faced a number of obstacles as James insisted on using the original Brooklands track, of which most has now been removed and built over. Obstacles including residential housing, commercial building, fences, a road, and the most challenging obstacle - a large pond. The track broke the world record for the longest successful Scalextric track, with the previous record measuring 1.59 miles (2.56 km).
The race had two teams. Volunteers (often referred to, in the show, as "Tom's Team"; Tom Ferris being a participant from a nearby company) and residents of Brooklands against "Scalextric Professionals". The race would be a relay, with each 'driver' racing one part of track as a single power unit could not power the whole track and one racer would not be able to run the length of the track. The cars briefly stopped due to crashing off the track, the contacts acquiring dirt and flawed changeovers. Tiff Needell guested as the race reporter. The volunteers raced a maroon Aston Martin DBS V12 model and the professionals raced a silver Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.[25]

Does anybody have a link to the Clarkson video review of the second generation MINI. I remember watching it before I first bought a MINI. He loved it. During the last couple of days I was trying to find it and it's nowhere. It's not a TG segment by the way.

Good try Chuck but those two aren't them. The video I recall started with a MINI with a black car cover on it, outdoors, and Clarkson starts off discussing how MINI has a new model, blah, blah, blah. Cover is removed and he exclaims, "they sent the wrong MINI" or something to that affect. It's strange, this video has no particular significance, but I just can't for the life of me understand how it could have just disappeard off the web
