As close and "exciting" as it looks in the video, let's be honest about this. Judging by the cars on the track, that is at the very least an advanced group, if not a mixed class wheel to wheel race. The guy most likely checked his mirrors and knew the C6 was coming.

Also that was a lotus that went blasting by. And yeah, if you look at it in full screen you can see the Miata driver glance over just before the shake-down. Judging by the convos held on the videos comments, the people involved are in good spirits about it, and the Miata admits fault for being "in the way" and uses it as a learning curve.
Thanks for that second vid. From that perspective the move certainly does not look as "aggressive". Funny though that in first clip the car is just a blur as it blows by.
I am not sure why the Miata driver was concerned about his position (unless it was his spacing to the other car while alongside). The Lotus doesn't come into his rear view until after he made his move to pass. Was still a pretty ballsy move by the Lotus driver.
