I have 75k on my 09 as well, mostly highway miles. Using my previous 04 as a reference, I had 106k on it with the original clutch.

The clutch in my R53 '06 was replaced about 1000 miles before the warranty expired... it was making a small creaking noise when I lifted off of the clutch (1st inch from the floor). Since the warranty was about to expire, I dropped by the dealership and a tech stepped in, pressed the clutch once and said "yep... you just got a new clutch!".

I'm at 72k miles now... hoping that it was a factory defect!

Only 23k on my MCS with no clutch problems. My daily driver is a 5 speed manual Sentra, 250k on the original clutch and still going strong.

Pushing 115000 on my 03. Our 08 Clubman clutch blew to pieces at around 25000, changed under warranty.

I find the biggest factor in clutch life to be driver. Even on my racecar which gets abused I haven't worn out the clutch. But in my justa Cooper I've loaned out to customers the clutch only lasted a year:confused5:

The other factor I see aftermarket clutches. I'd say 80% of aftermarket clutches are junk and no good for street use. When used on the street many of them bite the dust way too early.

Any recommendations for non-junk non-OEM clutches? I've had numerous manual transmissions over the years... well over 150k without ever replacing a clutch and the one in my '06 MCS died in 40k miles. If it goes again soon, I'd rather try something else a bit more heavy-duty.

I find this somewhat interesting and or strange.....
The 09 factory JCW comes with a 228mm (8.976") diameter clutch.
    The 09 "S" comes with a 235mm (9.25") diameter clutch.
And they each have a different throw-out bearing listed.
    All per Realoem......

So would the assumption be correct that the JCW uses a lighter clutch / flywheel assembly? I wonder how the clutch "life" expectancy plays into these differences, as we all report our clutch mileages?

My '09 CLubman JCW is about 1000 miles from end of warranty so I'm guessing I've got about 1001 miles before mine goes

But I hope not - seems tight & quiet... :fingerscrossed:
