Nathan's explanation is spot on. I have the DDM intake, but I rarely run my Justa sub sonic, so I can't speak for how it works on an "S".

How much of a difference does this make? Is there a ram-air effect at speed?
-
A very simple explanation is that air is pushed into the engine by moving the vehicle forward. However, at sub-sonic speeds the effect is negligible.

^^^ Heh, Heh, Heh....
Some of the big hills in Pa help to get Justa Jim near sub sonic..... There is no tell-tail sonic boom.... Just a little hair muss with the windows down... And of course, the cows are a little more blurry.... -
