Malwarebytes is da bomb. I recommend it all the time to clean up messes.

Using IE on the net is asking for trouble IMO...
Suggest you use Chrome or Firefox (ONCE YOU GET THE COMPUTER CLEANED)....and use IE only when you must.
As long as you do not hate Google, chrome is a great option...the FLASH, a common security issue, is sandboxed, and automatically kept up date. Nothing is perfect, but IMO, IE is the LEAST SECURE of all the mainstream browsers....perhaps cause it is the most targeted....-

I avoid using Internet Explorer also.
A good anti-malware program is Malwarebytes,

It is free and finds malware that your antivirus doesn't find.-

It sounds like you have adware installed. Run your anti-virus software to get rid of it.

Depending on how bad it is, you may need to get a registry cleaner. Or barring that, wipe the whole damn thing, reformat and reinstall everything. I know this is a nightmare, I had to do this several times for my parents and on my old windows machine. After the last time, I said frack it and I ran out and bought a Mac.
