""The system is tied to the engine speed and accurately reproduces engine notes as they are happening.""

Wonder if it will reproduce the famous "Death Rattle"

I like to use old baseball cards with close pins on the spokes for my fake engine sounds......

Cool--fake engine noises to go along with the fake hood slot. Yep, the MINI truly remains a pure drivers car!!

Give me one of those '78 CGE Pacers with the 6.6L V8 any time. There would be no need for enhancement of the engine noises.

Kids fake power all the time with noise but when I fly buy those Honda's with big fart cans the truth is revealed. Sometimes they ask if I have a turbo and I say nope it's stock.:devil:

A good exhaust is just one small part. You also need an intake and a very stable well built motor tuned correctly. But all the power in the world won't mean squat if you can't drive it.

Real men don't need boxes to make fart sounds for them. :D

As far as scoops go I've always thought of a scoop as something that brings cold air to the carburetor. Yes I'm old.

The R53 scoop & an opened up R56 scoop both serve the same function sort of. R53 to cool the intake charge & R56 to keep the turbo from melting.

I hang my head in shame.....at least there are open slots in it, so I'm going to pretend it's functional-will allow me to sleep at night...

I used to have an RX-7 Turbo II, and when I would auto-x it, folks would want me to pop the hood, assuming the hood scoop was fake. the back of scoop sat right on top of the huge intercooler...a very nice factory setup.

Their next comments typically were, "oh there is not way that can be legal" :biggrin5:

Well, it IS functional, just not in the way most hood scoops are...It gets hot enough in there to melt it, and it's just the right size to fit a reasonably sized "Lean Cuisine"; slide one in the slot, by the time you're at work, it's piping hot and ready for consumption.

Not all cars look as bad as the F'n56. Those regulations are not an excuse for a homely faced car. :frown2:

All this technology, I wouldn't know how to use it...I grew up with the good old-fashioned whoopi cushion. Used it on my fourth grade teachers chair. No one ratted me out. I never got it back though.

I fear the day will come when the MOTD get together will feature ecu upgrades.... changing the F56 3 cylinder sound to the F56 JCW sounds.... And F56 JCW sounds to BMW M5 sounds.....

F1 sounds reverberating from the hills, with all the MINI's stereo's cranked up to 13....

Oh the horror......Where will it end.....

I was happy to hear that you can pull the fuse. All I need is MORE noise inside the car. I travel alone, most of the time, but it is nice to talk to a passenger when I have one. :D

The hood scoop on Gen 2 cars is pretty much worthless and mostly for aesthetics. Look at the Goodwood edition. It has the Cooper S turbo engine, but it has the scoopless hood from the MINI D.

The slot was functional on the R53. MINI kept it on the R56 and the F56 to help differentiate the base from the S visually, simple as that. It's just one more thing to melt on the 2nd and third generations...

Oh its a BMW not a MINI since it was confirmed that the motor and turbo is identical to a 328I so being in a MINI its dialed back to golf cart status.

A 328i makes 200+ torq and 240HP the new MINI not so much.
