It's all part of the European Pedestrian laws. Instead of making cars go faster, you now have to make cars sound faster; a car that sounds fast but drives slow does much less damage to a pedestrian than a car that sounds slow and drives fast.

I took the "grill" out of my hood scoop, it took about five minutes. It now has a functional hood scoop.

Ahem, back to the original topic ...

My brother gave me something like this a long time ago. I think it was called a "Fart Box." It was a big hit at the Thanksgiving dinner table. :ihih:

Maybe the MINI version can be programmed, so you can hit a toggle on the dash and a pedestrian would hear, "Hey, moron - get out of the way" or maybe "Oops, sorry!"

Correct Dave most modern fuel infected cars pick up cold air from the outside. Miata guys have been preaching for years about how aftermarket intakes lower power. Lots of folks believe a loud intake makes power. Noise = power, if it was only that easy.

Id like to put up some videos of my exhaust note, compared to yours and Nates  If yours is louder than mine :eek6: Mines the loudest in my area, kinda too loud, may have to find me one of those " Coast muffler" resonators. Put a glasspak on a couple years ago, think its hollow now  Guy told me last week it sounded like a motorcycle on steroids

I think this canned sound idea may solve the problem with the new F1 engine "lack of" sound. I can just see it now speakers on either side of the air box with a big a$$ amp powered by another generator. Then they can make them sound like any F1 era.:eek:ut:

    Here it is:

    Aerospace Hardware & Fasteners

Go to the "fabrication services" link on the page, it has the lightweight mufflers (not intuitive the way the web site is set up).

They will custom build anything to size/spec; it's always a good idea to see what they've got on clearance, every now and then they build something that someone backs out on that would fit the MINI perfectly, and it ends up being quite a bit cheaper. If you check out the site, you can see how easy it is to repack one of their mufflers. Best way is to call them; you can get exactly what you want. Like I said, it ain't cheap, but it's the best quality not to mention convienence (when you put in the ability to repack) out there by a mile. It's the best lightweight muffler out there.

    That's true.

But it's a loud intake, plus the number of rolled-up socks packed in your underwear, that determines 'manhood'.

The F56 has a fake hood slot? On prior MCS models, my understanding has always been it was there are on the S and JCW models to get additional cold air in, and to help release heat.

My R56 hood slot is open for air intake(unlike, say the hood scoop you can order for a Mustang GT).

I have never been a fan of fake scoops and "pretend" gadgets on cars....I hope this is not true

Otherwise, I may have to figure out how to fit a midnight black Justa hood on my JCW :mad2:

On the R56 you could make it functional by adding a DDM intake and use the air to move it to the intake.

Mostly it is just like the stickers on the GP 2 they do nothing.

Would it be much easier to educate European Pedestrians that Big Heavy metal things with rubber rollers on the wide black sidewalks can kill you?

    European Service Announcement:
"European Pedestrians please stay on the sidewalk and don't walk on the black pavement because you could be killed.

Thank you for your time now have a cup of tea." :D:ihih::lol:

Simple, problem solved now make cars that look good again.

So now you are pumping in air to increase the pressure on the downstream side of the radiator, reducing the air flow through the radiator. Is that a good idea?
