Anybody use 225/45/15's?? True race slicks are available from Conti for purchase.....same ones used by RSR.

part # 20220 and they are $245 each

what does Alain run with his 15's? he is probably the only one that I can think of who might have run these. when in doubt, email Randy. even though he is no longer running MINI's, he has always been very helpful. it would be interesting to know if RSR ran these because Conti was the series sponsor, or because these are good tires.

    standing by.....

    I like my Yoko slicks.

As I understood this tire thing...

Continental doesn't make slicks. The ones being raced on are really Hoosiers rebranded by contract as Continental as they were the sponsor at the time.

I may be wrong too, this is something I heard, never did verify.

    Continental does make some slicks.

However, the tires used in the Continental Challenge series are re-branded Hoosiers because Continental can't/won't offer multiple grades of slicks (i.e. Hard/Medium/Soft) that are needed in the series.

I don't care who puts their name on the tire. if I can get a good tire, i'll buy it. the "conti" tires are made for longer races. this may not work as well for a sprint racer.

the tires in question are about half the cost of "Lotus-spec" Yokos for my car. i'm sure that they will last longer, but probably have less grip.

Continental bought Hoosier some time ago.

Continental also did the same type of thing with General tires. Alliance, bought, shared a bed....lol

Can't verify this but what I had heard was that Conti used rebranded Hoosier's the first year, then had them with their own branding thereafter. I actually had a set that you could see the "Hoosier" scrubbed off and the Conti branded on. Have one set left in the basement I can no longer use - bought from some shop in FL as takeoffs from a GA test event.

I would jump on this deal but for the fact the rear of the car will be using 10" rims now!! :biggrin5:

Unfortunately with the car build I am stuck with the choice of Hoosiers - no slicks available in 15" sizes for 10" rims. But the good side is the cost is much more appealing which is why I went that route.
