This MINI will depart Denver on April 28 bound for MOTD. We would enjoy the company of as many MINI's as possible to make this epic trip even more fun!! Tentatively, a 12 hour motor into St. Louis area, stopping overnight, then continue into the Nashville area (approx. 2 1/2 hours outside of Fontana Village) stopping there to visit friends before MOTD the following morning. Anybody interested?
I will have to see what the next couple of months bring my way, but I think it is time to go register for MOTD, hope to get that done today. Now to find a place to stay, I don't plan on camping out. Don
Hey Teresa (and Eric of course), glad to see you are going to make it. Have you found a place to stay yet?
Now a 2 MINI family...finally! We'll be dressed a bit differently this time around! Don't look for us in my Coupe, we will be in Erik's Horizon Blue JCW hardtop we picked up in October at Ralph Schomp for his birthday! It's a beauty!!! It has ALWAYS been my hope that we would take HIS car for racing around and leave my pretty girl to stay pretty a bit longer! Look forward to catching up with you! Teresa.
Tonight I booked a room at the Cheshire Inn in St. Louis (cheshirestl.com) for April 28 on the way to the Dragon. This little 100-something room British Inn boasts tea service, an authentic tavern (i.e. yards of ale!), breakfast included, pet friendly, etc... I am awaiting a response for a group rate but for now, have my own reservation because this place looks perfect for a night to park my cute car.
How about from Nashville making a run through Devil's Triangle before heading to Fontana? I'm planning to head down from Virginia the day prior, hitting the Snake along the way, and figured a morning run like that would set the tone for arrive at the events.
We will be staying overnight in Crossville, TN. the night of the 29th with friends we haven't seen in a while. Did you have in mind driving into Fontana on Wednesday? We are planning to head to Fontana late morning/noon-ish. Teresa.
Yes. Was thinking of crashing the night of the 29th in that general area, and started the 30th with a run through the Triangle before heading to Fontana.
Well this is looking better and better, description on Devils Triangle, makes me want to change back to taller springs with my Konis. Don
Believe it or not all the roads down and around the Dragon are great. They are also well paved and smooth. No extra hight in your suspension is needed. No pot holes and hardly any road split bumps that jar you car. I don't think they use rock salt down south so the roads are perfect for epic drives with excellent grip and smooth transfers.
Dave.0, did you read the route description on Devils Run (road dynamics), sounds like fun to me. I will do it if it gets set up on Wednesday when we head over to the Dragon, just say'n. Don
The drive out from Denver (convoy on the 28th) will make this EPIC event... even more...EPIC... Can't wait...
