Steel oil pan... I'd say 2nd Gen....
Sometimes oil can collect there when changing the oil filter up top. A little can leak out when changing the oil filter. It can run down the engine and collect at the low spot on the transmission... It may not be a bad gasket at all...
This is a possibility, one of several...
Is it engine oil or transmission oil?
More info is needed from you, before an internet diagnosis can be offered.....

:cornut: I plugged 'MINI Cooper Engine Gaskets' into the 'Yahoo' search engine and quite a few listings come up. Myself, I agree with those above. Get OEM gaskets. Now some of the companies that I found have OEM at less than dealer prices but ask whether they are OEM BEFORE buying. Also, I think that you were wondering whether there might be after market 'super gaskets' that are better than OEM. Not that I know of however, go to our sponsors list and email 'Detroit Tuned' and some of the other 'full service' shops. They build racers and will tell you what they recommend.

What type of fluid? Try the smell test...
Pull your engine oil dipstick and smell it... Pick up some of the oil on the floor and smell it....
Do they smell similar?? Yes, then it's engine oil.... Color similar?
Transmission gear oil has a very strong and much different smell than engine oil...-

Ok I would stick with the OEM gaskets and have a NON dealership look at the problem.
It does not look like you have a huge oil leak at all just some seepage from somewhere.
FYI the dealer will charge you and arm, leg and your first born to troubleshoot a little oil leak like that.
Best of Luck.-

I believe there are just OEM gaskets. There may be inexpensive knockoff's but I'd think they would not be of the same quality.

Quality parts are only 1/2 the job. A quality technician that cares about the quality of his work is just as important. -
this is it guys, its after a hard drive so u can see that the oil is burned there but u can see some remainings of how it was spread

One other thing, the other day i had loads of oil spilled all around the engine underneath and it should of been from the tensioner cause it was slightly loose and needed a few more screwing. Anyway that was fixed, so then we had to clean the engine and we did. Then we checked for a leak but we saw nothing of this leak on the crank. I haven't changed oil filter lately therefore im positive that there couldn't have been any oil of that case dripping down there.
