If you're going to build your S I suggest that you talk with Jan at RMW. I'm not trying to start a tuner war here ( especially with Nathan down right now) but he has a lot of satisfied customers here on MA.

Anyway, a tune is going to do more for you than a cam, it's a much cheaper, safer, and better, bang for the buck. Pulley first, then larger injectors, cam, header/exhaust, is a great place to start. BVH gets pricey, but it's a huge difference maker. The nice thing about RMW is they have a cam that will fit your needs, rather than a "one size fits all cam", which doesn't exist anyway. Call Jan, throw out what you've done to your car here, don't make the same mistakes I and many others have made by buying without any data to back it up. You're lucky; you have all our accumulated good and bad experiences to bank on, and everyone here gets a kick out of helping people out. I've screwed up too many times to count, just don't want to see someone on here make the mistakes I've made.-

Without trying to start another pissing match, I'll just throw out there that the NS1 isn't the best application for an MCS. You want to talk base Cooper, then MAYBE. But not for an MCS. You want torque down lower? Go with a 17% pulley, if you're not going to rev high. Much less of a headache. There are many ways to get what you want. An NS1 is at best a lateral move, at worst a step back. It's your choice, but if you can get out of that cam I would. Just my 2 cents.
You are hamstringing yourself with that cam if you're planning on modding in the future, larger injectors, etc.
I'd strongly recommend you call Jan. A cam, while not a huge undertaking, isn't exactly a small one either. You need a plan, that you can do one step at a time, not a piecemeal part installation.-

I'm not sure what all you have done to this point. I think 15% pulley CAI exhaust and headers? That's about what I have so far only I have a 17% pulley. If this is where you are I would do injectors and a tune. I believe that will be money well spent. Jan at RMW has a very good rep in the community I would talk to him. When I get ready to do more he is the one I will be calling.

Smart move. There are MUCH better options than an NS1, which simply does not belong on an S anyway; I'm mildly surprised Way would have sold one to you if he had them in stock. Don't know much about FES, or who recommended the NS1 to you, but it's.....not.....a....horsepower.....maker...... Show me where you're getting a few extra HP on an S with an NS1, and I'll show you a fudged dyno plot...Total waste of money, consider yourself lucky. There are anecdotal reports of it helping out the base Cooper, but for the S, forget it. You're better off with stock.
Just dropping a cam in isn't really the way to do it anyway; there's more to it than that--throw out your goals, and what you've done to your car already, and there's a bunch of people that can get you moving in the direction you want.
Crower has a good reputation, so people automatically assume it's good. But that cam was not specced by Crower, just reground by them. I have a hard time believing the reason they're in short supply is due to high demand, but that's just me. I'd wager there's virtually no demand, and Crower isn't wasting their time on them.-

I spoke to Matt today and he is a great guy. We figured out what was wrong with my order and along with several others he had lost in the system. He has some crower cams left and as far as I could tell I wasn't going to find. He was actually in my neighboring town last week!

Ouch. Well I heard lot of people talking about the ns1 in their s and said they loved it. I've forum browsed it a lot and came across these threads. I couldn't imagine it being counter productive and actually lose me power. But then again this new to me. I want to get a few more hp. The last things I need are a good header. Larger injectors and a tune from rmw. Insane top end is not my goal. I want a good low mid power range that puts a smile on my face. I just sold my other car I had a Garrett turbo running 900cc injectors e85 forged internals and more boost then necessary. It will be hard for me to ever have as much fun playing with power in the mini without spending gobs of cash. So I am just looking to squeeze a few hp here and there. Have my power band where I usually am on a typical day and enjoy my 6 speed mini. I maybe hit high 5k rpms once a month. Even when I am feeling spirited I shift 4500 rpms.

And IMO DO NOT BUY USED ONES ON NAM....I'd bet $$ most are the stock ones folks put in the cam box they bought...and sold....to the untrained eye they look so similar...only buy from a real seller.

Lol! So over this stuff but......NS1 working great for me for over, what, 5 years now? Dang glad I'm into biking and spend my extra money elsewhere now. We'll can't say that actually, just ordered 2 new Superchargers from cooperke s,one just to have a extra one ready on the shelf.......carry on
