A couple of fairly easy things to check.....brake and clutch switches - they claim these fail on a regular basis and are inexpensive and easy to change - check the adjustment first.

My car also went thru this problem and after 2 brake switches didn't cure it the dealer changed the steering angle sensor next, then the ignition switch (electrical part only, not the keyed part), which seemed to finally fix it.

    Good luck!

Thanks Minidave! I will get it a shot and let you know if I was able to fix it. I do have one question though. If the brake switch was bad wouldn't the brake lights not work? Oh and if I failed to mention it's an automatic so I don't have a clutch switch.

So, are your brake lights working?

I don't know the answer for sure, there may be more than one switch - one for the cruise and one for the brake lights - but again, fairly easy and inexpensive to check.

Yep they work fine. I will get a chance to look at it today after work. I should get home before dark today. From what I see in the manual there is only 1 switch.

I seem to have same issue....flashing once and not engaging.

Did you find out what it was the problem?
