I would invest in a Bentley manual and all your question will be answered with proper torque setting for every bolt.

I think the head removal is pretty straightforward and no special tools are needed. The Bentley manual will help a lot with all the various torque values. Frankly, it's a very good investment if you are going to work on the MINI.
